BALMAIN was founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain as a haute couture house. Founder Pierre Balmain was born in Savoie, France in 1914. Influenced by his father, who works in the men's clothing wholesale business, and his mother, who runs a boutique, Pierre grew up with a strong interest in clothes from an early age.After studying architecture at the École National des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he turned to the world of fashion, which had been his dream since childhood. After working for a number of maisons, he established Pierre Balmain, which bears his own name, in 1945. In the 1950s, he played an active role as a central figure in the golden age of Paris haute couture.
